Megan Behnke

School Counselor

Megan has been at AIS for 10+ years.

She has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College and is a trained primary school teacher, who joined Aarhus International School in 2013 after relocating to Denmark from the United States of America. Megan has held numerous roles during her tenure at AIS including having served as the IB Programme Coordinator for PYP from 2017-2023, seeing the PYP successfully through the school’s first IB Evaluation Visit in 2020.

Megan holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in School Counseling from the University of Scranton and has experience working with students from pre-K to grade 12 in this capacity. Megan has served as AIS’ part-time School Counsellor since 2014, and as of 2023 moves into this role full-time. As the School Counsellor at AIS, she has been working with all stakeholders to support students’ academic, career, personal/social and global perspective development, in alignment with best practice in the field of international school counseling. Megan sits on the Pedagogical Leadership Team at AIS and guides the collaboration with a number of external partners including Aarhus Kommune, PPR, and Familiecentret, amoung others.

 

When not at school, Megan enjoys spending time with her family, as well as running, reading, and spending time in nature.
