Danish Private Schools Codex: The 7 Societal Commitments

The Code of Conduct – The 7 Areas of Societal Commitment

As a member of Danish Private Schools (Danmarks Private skoler) we share a commitment to social responsibility.

With the other member schools we have therefore jointly adopted a code of conduct designed to activate

This means that we have established concrete activities or initiatives in seven areas that ultimately benefit society.

The 7 areas of societal commitment (De 7 samfundsløfter) are:

1. The School and the Wider World

2. The School’s Inclusiveness and Outcomes

3. A School for the Future

4. The School’s Diversity

5. The School as a Preventive Body

6. The School’s Focus on Rights and Conventions

7. The School’s Focus on Student’s Educational Pathways

What is the Code of Conduct – the 7 Areas of Societal Commitment?

The member schools of the Danish association Danmarks Private Skoler – including primary and upper secondary schoools – have made a shared commitment to uphold a code of conduct for societal responsibility and to fulfill seven key areas of societal commitment: “The Code of Conduct – the 7 Areas of Societal Commitment”.

At the heart of this code lies a recognition that the member schools are diverse institutions with different value foundations. It is therefore a fundamental premise that each school determines how the shared value of societal responsibility is brought to life within its own unique context.

“The Code of Conduct – the 7 Areas of Societal Commitment” establishes an overall framework that allows for flexibility and variation. This is essential in a free and independent school context. However, one principle remains constant: social responsibility is not only something we discuss or write about – it is something we demonstrate through action.

We activate the value of societal responsibility by implenting or initiating activities within seven key areas, all of which are designed to benefit society.

Here’s how these commitments correspond to the IB standards:
