Motions Day turned into a huge fundraiser to raise money in support of the charity Knæk Cancer

Just before the Autumn Break, you will remember that it was Motions Day. Motions Day is a yearly event that takes place in schools throughout Denmark. The purpose of Motions Day, on the last day of school before Autumn Break, is to encourage students (and staff!) to participate in physical activity and promote healthy lifestyles. At AIS, all the students take the day out of the classroom down in Tangkrogen and the Big Field for our EY students, where they take part in a long distance, cross country run. For the MYPs this is a 5km run through the woods and along the sea. For the PYPs this is timed laps of 1km.

This year, Mr Ryan and Mr Bettger took it one step further and used Motions Day as an opportnity to raise money through sponsorships. For each lap, members of our school community sponsored some money.

Well, we are delighted to announce that the PYP community raised 10,517kr during our sponsored run for this year’s Motions Day. The donation has been sent to Knæk Cancer to support cancer research projects in Denmark. You can read more about Knæk Cancer here – https://knaek.cancer.dk/da

A huge thanks to Jon Bettger and Ryan Preston for being the inspiration for the sponsored run, and to you and your children for your support and generosity. AIS can be enormously proud of our community.
