There was pizazz! There were tears! There were laughs. Dancing, singing, acrobatics and MORE in the amazing spectacular of the MYP Musical.

The stage opened in a dimly lit Victorian London. Two benches and a table. The marching and the drumming came and lights up into the workhouse. And off we went, following the life of Oliver, and his adventures through London – from the workhouse to the funeral directors, Fagin’s gang, to Bill Sikes crew and eventually finding his way home. All the while navigating new friendships with the Artful Dodger and Nancy and Bet, a new family and a willful ruthlessness to find a place where he belongs.
It was a stunning show, with some tremendous leading performances and brave risk-takers offering up solo singing parts. Mr Ofer’s direction set up the scene with clever tableaux. Our MYP4 light and sound technician kept the atmosphere and the energy flowing between scene to scene. The ensemble and backstage crew were slick and quick with each scene change, as we moved from one space to the next. The room was overflowing with talent, bringing the audience to its feet.

This play could not have gone ahead without the hard work of a lot of people behind the scenes. Our teachers, Mr Ofer and Ms Kathryn. Students who gave up their lunchtimes and breaktimes for several months in order to put in the hours of rehearsals. Parent volunteers who taxied, ushered, brought food, made costumes, did hair and make up, attended rehearsals and so much more to make sure this SOLD-OUT event could go ahead. And, of course, thank you to everyone in our school community who came out to watch and support the musical.
