The AIS Board has initiated its search for a new head of school to take over the leadership when Chris Hanna retires in summer 2024.
After many years of dedicated service at Aarhus International School, Mr Chris Hanna announced his plans to retire during the whole staff meeting at the end of September. As the school moves on to a new phase, growing in numbers and with the new building project soon to be finished, Chris mentioned that the goals he had hoped to accomplish over these past seven years will have been completed with the move into the new school buildings planned for summer 2024.
In this regard, the hunt for a new Head of School now begins and applications have now opened.
The ideal candidate will embrace the spirit of exploration, inclusion, and achievement that has guided AIS since its founding in 2011. The Head of School will represent AIS in relation to the wider school community and will maintain and hone AIS’ commitment to quality international education, co-curricular activities, community engagement, as well as global educational and cultural exchange partnerships.

They should also have a Master’s degree or similar in Education, Educational Leadership or a related field from an accredited instituion, as well as qualifications in headship or administration. Certification and experience within IB related areas is also greately preferred.
Niclas Kvernrød, Board Chair, who was present at the staff meeting to present the board’s timeline and steps in the recruitment process, expects that initial screening interviews are to be held in January, or before, with finalists entering a selection process which will involve a broader representation from the AIS family.
